Earth Day 2008 was a complete success in the Los Angeles area. Dozens of events popped everywhere, and the Green Apple Festival held on the iconic Santa Monica Pier was the largest of them. More than 40,000 people vibrated to the music of Taj Mahal Taj Mahal and friends, Ziggy Marley, Juliette and the Licks, Escalera (featuring Danny Way & Bob Burnquist), School of Rock Hollywood Allstars, The Frequency and Coby Brown.
Emceed by Boise Thomas, host of “The Green Life” on Planet Green (Discovery Network), the event included Greenmarket vendors and free valet bike parking. A record 1,000 cycles were checked into the beachside valet.
