6) Solitude: “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Walking around the pond provided a feeling of restoration and peace for me, and it appeared to affect other visitors as well. People were stopping along the banks, looking out across the pond, seemingly caught in the quiet moment of reflection, just like Thoreau many years ago. |
