By looking at this replication of Thoreau’s cabin, you can see how simply he lived, especially when considering the standards of America today.  His one room cabin was merely ten by fifteen feet, which only cost Thoreau $28.12 to construct.  In today’s figures, that’s a consumer price index estimate of $664. 41!
