Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau was a 19th century American writer whose most famous work, Walden, documents the author’s two year, two month, and two day experiment in simple living at Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. In addition to his essays, a school play, music CD, and English lesson plan, Earth Day Network’s Director of Education, Sean Miller, has created a virtual walking tour of Walden Pond using photographs from his recent visit. Thoreau’s works, especially Walden, epitomize the link between education, civic action, and the environment, and we offer these learning tools as an essential contribution to any student's knowledge base.
