Start: Thu, 01/01/1970 - 00:00 End: Thu, 01/01/1970 - 00:00

‘Green Roofs for the West’ Symposium at the Botanic Gardens

How can green roofs lead us to a future of more sustainable cities in the challenging climate of the west? This first annual symposium on green roofs for the western U.S. is perfect for architects, landscape architects facility managers, policymakers, energy specialists, engineers and horticulturists. This full-day program delves beneath the surface to inform professionals and lay the groundwork to affect policy change in Denver, Colorado and the intermountain west. Topics will include regional green roof plants, design criteria, making the business case for green roofs, policy issues, & how green roofs fit into the big picture.

Denver Botanic Gardens is an ideal setting for a green roof symposium. The Gardens’ own green roof, installed in November 2007, serves as a test site for a new palette of plants for green roofs in the American west. The green roof will be open throughout the day for tours.
