EARTH DAY & INTERNATIONAL EARTH DAY SA BUHI

The Miss Teen Buhi Organization has for sometime been holding conferences and gatherings for youth in the Municipality of Buhi. This is part of the Miss Teen Buhi Beauty Pageant wherein one of the objectives is bringing to light the conscious effort of promoting clean and healthy environment of the municipality. They were not only meant for business meetings but were likewise opportunities for follow up formation and skills training to further stabilize and professionalize the Buhinon youth. The response is great and the enthusiastic participation of the youth in all endeavors by, for and with the youth could attest to that, but the need to sustain and maintain the fire in them remains a challenge to reckon with.

It hopes to tackle issues and concerns that seriously affect our global community and environment as well caused by the so called “global warming”.

This significant event dubbed as Earth Month and International Earth Day Celebrations 2008 is an observance and celebration with the adopted theme and focuses on the three year global campaign to climate change solutions.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To facilitate deeper reflection on the present realities of the environment as far as global warming and its effects are concern.
2. To educate Buhinon youth about the present situations that are affecting our environment [and also on global scope] caused by global warming.
3. Provide direction and encouragement to all the Buhinon youth in their quest for efficiency and effectivity as leaders.
4. To encourage our youth to actively involve themselves in the protection, preservation and conservation of our environment.
5. To serve as culminating activity of the observance of Earth Month and International Earth Day 2008.

EXPECTED OUTPUT:

1. The participants were educated and awakened about the different problems that are affecting the environment.
2. The participants will be tooled already to share their part by means of protecting, preserving and conserving our environment.
3. The participants will be encouraged to create the same activities to be applied in their respective communities as their simple but meaningful contribution to Mother Earth.
