A New President, a New Agenda
The current stimulus plan will generate 3.6 million jobs, with 30% in manufacturing and construction. Call or email your Representative or Senators and ask them to include energy efficiency, renewable energy, green jobs and green schools in the American Recovery and Investment Plan! There is 14-billion in the stimulus for school modernization but only 25 percent of that is for green schools - and we must increase it. Join us in holding Congress and the incoming Administration accountable: Demand that green measures be included in the stimulus package. Plant the seeds of a green future! ACT NOW! Support our policy work by donating to Earth Day Network School Food on the Plate at Conference of Mayors
Our climate change panelists, Greg Kats and Earth Day Network President Kathleen Rogers, connected the dots between green schools, healthy school food, and the environmental movement at large. On the hunger and homelessness panel, Danielle Hollar, head researcher at the Agatston Research Foundation, and Melissa Mahoney, Baltimore City Public Schools Dietician focused on how we can raise test scores and lower cholesterol - as soon as we start changing school food.
