Bobbie Bigfoot Sustainability Lesson Plans

Hello Earth Day Network educator! I’m Bobbie Bigfoot here to present Earth Day Network’s new sustainability lesson plans. Sustainability is one of the most pressing environmental concerns of our lifetime – we cannot survive on Earth forever without creating a sustainable future!

These lesson plans will help your students understand the concept of sustainability and why it is so vitally important. Each lesson has been tested by fellow teachers to ensure that they are both interesting and informative and also conform to many state standards. Begin with the "Introduction to Sustainability for Students" handout, then implement the lessons according to subject area and grade level.

The lessons fall under the broad categories of science and social studies, but also relate to other subject areas, such as language arts and math. There are also some games for your students to play and a list of vocabulary words to help them understand the ideas and concepts included in these lessons.

Simply click on the links below; you will be amazed at the wealth of information! Also, be sure to keep an eye out for the Bobbie Bigfoot Ecological Footprint Kids Quiz which will be up and running soon! The quiz is similar to the Ecological Footprint you can find on the Earth Day Network homepage, but this one is especially for your younger students. It is designed to supplement these lesson plans, creating a full and rounded educational experience for your students.

Now let’s get started!
