sold, transferred or otherwise disclosed to any third party, unless
such disclosure is required by law or court order.
Technical Information and Traffic Data
Each time you come to the Earth Day Network website, our web
server (like most on the web) collects some basic technical information,
including your IP address, your domain name, referral data (for
example, the address of the last URL you were at before clicking
through to our website) and browser and platform type ("Technical

us to identify broad demographics about who uses the Earth Day

is kept anonymously so that any such information does not personally
identify you. We may share this Traffic Data with others. For
example, we may report to third parties, such as the press, that
a certain number of our volunteers come from a specific geographic

A "Cookie" is a short line of text stored on your computer
by a website to differentiate between one anonymous visitor and
another. For Grist Magazine and all parts of the Earth Day website
other than the Earth Day Store, we only use Cookies for the limited
purpose of counting the number of anonymous visitors to our site;
we do not collect or store any personal information about you
using Cookies.
In the Earth Day Store, we assign Cookies to shoppers for additional
purposes, such as tracking the items in your shopping cart. Cookies
help us recognize you as a prior customer and allow us to serve
special features, which might be of interest to you. To better
serve your needs, we will store your personal Earth Day Store
online visiting preferences, but we will not store any Personal
Information about you using Cookies technology.

Children's Privacy (COPPA) Statement
Redefining Progress and Earth Day Network believe that protecting
children's privacy online is extremely important, and we encourage
parents and guardians to take an active role in their children's
use of the Internet and to spend time online with their children.
Redefining Progress and Earth Day Network have implemented measures
to ensure that the privacy of children under 13 who take the Footprint
Quiz is protected. Specifically:
On the front page of the Footprint Quiz, a user must input their
age. This information is not individually identifiable, and is
used only for aggregate demographic analysis of Footprint Quiz
users.
There are four instances within the Footprint Quiz where an e-mail
address, which would be individually identifiable information,
may be collected from a child under 13. These instances are accessible
from the Quiz's results page.
* A child under the age of 13 may email the Footprint Quiz to
a friend. The e-mail addresses entered will be used only to send
the referral e-mail and not kept for any other reason.
* A child under the age of 13 may request that their Footprint
Quiz result is e-mailed to them. In this case, after this one-time
request e-mail with the Footprint result is sent, the e-mail address
will be deleted from our records and not used again.
* A child under the age of 13 may use their e-mail address to
pledge to "Take Action" to reduce their Footprint. In this case,
the e-mail address itself will be deleted from our records and
not used again. We will only report the aggregate number of children
under 13 who signed the Take Action pledge without including any
individually identifiable information.
* A child under the age of 13 may use their e-mail address to
pledge to "Take Action" to Involve Others. In this case, the e-mail
address itself will be deleted from our records and not used again.
We will only report the aggregate number of children under 13
who signed the Take Action pledge without including any individually
identifiable information.
Security
Earth Day Network uses all reasonable security safeguards to
protect the information obtained against such risks as loss or
unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure
by storing it on secure servers, which cannot be accessed over
the Internet.
Public Posting
This policy does not protect information you may post to any
online public forum within our website.
